Ada Cryer Interviewed by Cajun Contractor
In February, I was interviewed by Michael King, the Cajun Contractor on Home Talk USA, a nationally syndicated radio program highlighting home improvement topics. I've been a longtime member of the RPA (serving on the board of directors for three years) and a technical contact on electric radiant heating systems for about 10 years, so I was King's expert to answer questions.
The interview brought out the many great selling points of radiant heating. These are:
Indoor Air Quality
This hot topic bears mentioning to any customer who's considering a radiant heating system. A forced air system will drive dust, dirt and pollen throughout the home. Radiant heating does not. It's definitely a selling point for anyone with allergies.
Better A/C
After eliminating a forced air system, you can install A/C vents toward the top of the wall, a more effective method for cooling the air.
Elimination of Drafts
The upper floor won't be warmer than the lower floor with radiant heating.
Elimination of Floor Vents
Your customers can place their furniture wherever they'd like. They won't have to dodge (or look at) floor vents.
Adding Extra Heat
Put extra heat where it's needed, near windows and doors.
Just Like the Sun
Use the sun as an example of how radiant heating works.
Many Applications
Remind customers that radiant systems can be used for more than just heating homes. Driveways, sidewalks, stairs, handicapped ramps, roofs, gutters and downspouts can be treated with radiant heating.
